Weekend, kid sister's college graudation
May. 9th, 2004 10:22 pmWell, my kid sister finished up college, so I drove out to Bumfuck Shippensburg over the weekend for her graduation. Here's some random things from the weekend:
- Getting up at 6 AM on Saturday morning. That sucked.
- Getting to the college stadium 2 HOURS before graduation started. At the 1 hour mark, the stadium was filled. I don't get that. What's the point of everyone showing up an hour in advance and just sitting around? That seems kinda silly.
- During the graduation, I read through an issue of Fang, Claw, and Steel and an issue of Readers' Digest, so I at least got something done during that timeframe. I also managed to get sunburn from being out in the sun that long. Ouch.

Back at my sister's place after graduation, I got to see my Uncle Darryl, who I hadn't seen since when I graduated from Business School back in 1998. He's like 63 and still drives around a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He sure knows how to live and have fun.

I had 2 pints Killian's Irish Red at Applebee's Saturday night. That was probably the highlight of the weekend right there. :-)

On Sunday, we met my Aunt Pam and Uncle Jim who I hadn't seen in 10+ years. It was nice chatting with them, and I gave them their first introduction to furry, by showing them they issue of Fang, Claw and Steel that I had with me. They especially liked some of Bill Schmickle's artwork. I'm sending them an Anthrocon conbook in the mail. :-)

On the way home today, I tok the scenic route and drove on US-30 and PA-116. I went through several towns such as Gettysburg and Lancaster and got to see a bit of history. Also, when I drove through Chambersburg, I passed a tattoo parlor that had a really cool painting of a tiger on the side of it. I need a digital camera so I can take pictures of these things.
good times
