Here's a summary of the last few days of my life...

Friday

I hooked up with the guys from Manic Mart and proceeded to take over Top Shelf, as explained in my last post. Then we headed back to [livejournal.com profile] randomzen's place and I proceeded to get him hooked on Metal Gear: Solid.

Just to clarify, the whole reason behind the Manic Mart website is that Random Zen used to work at that Top Shelf. He got so frustrated at working there that he proceeded to work out his aggressions by creating Manic Mart. When the owner of Top Shelf found out that he had the website, she DEMANDED that he take it down. Random said no, and she fired him. The irony here is that the parody of the store outlasted the original store!

Saturday

I finally installed GAIM on my machine, so now I can use ICQ again, yay! My ICQ number is 14112246, and my Jabber ID is dmuth@jabber.org. Feel free to message me via either of those two services!

In the evening, I stopped by the local Borders book store and just wandered around for a bit. I read a bit of "IRAQ for Dummies", then checked out the computer section and read a little about BGP. And all this cost me was a cup of coffee from their coffee shop. :-)

Sunday

Being in ICQ again, I discovered that an old friend from my BBSing days of years past had moved down to the Philly area too, and lived in the next town over! So I hooked up with him for coffee and we played catchup on recent happenings in our life as well as some of the cool technologies we have each played with over the years.

The previous night, the Angel of Death visited [livejournal.com profile] phildafeline's computer, so in the evening I went over to his place to do a little computer revival. It's amazing what re-seating a PCI card will do. :-) Then I was introduced to a show on Adult Swim called "The Oblongs". Ph33r.

Tuesday

Tried dialing into my ISP this morning, to be greeted by a phoneline that has more static than an AM radio! Was it the wiring? Nope, after several more tries, I got a line that didn't have static. I've had this problem intermittently before, and I suspect that there is a bad circuit somewhere in the telco's network that is causing the static. Whether I get that circuit or not is mostly luck. Sometimes I hate these circuit switched networks...

Went to the physical therapist on Tuesday night, and they kicked my ass. :-) They put me on the stair climber, then had me jogging in place on a trampoline so as to "re-educate" the muscles in my left foot to the motions that are used in jogging. Then they put me on something really weird. They unrolled a 6 foot long plastic mat, had me put on nylon covers on my shoes, and had my slide back and forth on this slippery thing for about 10 minutes. The motions were almost those of roller blading or ice skating, and I nearly lost my balance a few times! The good thing was that my foot really didn't bother me by doing those exercises, a sign that it is healing...
