Grandfather kills leopard with his hands

NAIROBI (Reuters) - A 73-year-old Kenyan grandfather reached into the mouth of an attacking leopard and tore out its tongue to kill it, authorities said Wednesday.

Peasant farmer Daniel M'Mburugu was tending to his potato and bean crops in a rural area near Mount Kenya when the leopard charged out of the long grass and leapt on him.

M'Mburugu had a machete in one hand but dropped that to thrust his fist down the leopard's mouth. He gradually managed to pull out the animal's tongue, leaving it in its death-throes.

"It let out a blood-curdling snarl that made the birds stop chirping," he told the daily Standard newspaper of how the leopard came at him and knocked him over.

The cat was just trying to get what it could find for food. There are way too many humans on this planet, and we're suffocating nature. :/ Oh well, such is the new law of survival of the richest.

Yah but on the bright side at least the human bastard didn't take him down with a gun. This was hand to claw the way it should be. 90% of the pussy hunters on this planet would be so screwed without their boom stick. I'll leave you to ponder what what a boom stick is..... ;x)

Yeah, I've always felt hunting with a gun isn't sport, because it gives the hunter a vast advantage over his prey.

As far as I'm concerned, this was as close to nature as you can get. Predator tried to attack prey, but lost. What was the guy supposed to do, let the leopard snap his neck like a twig? Leopards have the highest jaw pressure for weight of all the big cats; I'm surprised it didn't try to crush his hand when he put it in the leopard's mouth.

Holy crap! That is some impressive tongue action! :xD

What next? Ripping off his tail and strangling him with it?

*takes the leopards paw* stop hitting yourself! stop hitting yourself! stop hitting yourself!

Seriously though that is one tough SOAB 73 year old. They don't make em like they use to anymore which might actually be a good thing.

C'mon, I'm NOT surprised the cat didn't bite. He was probably all frantically WTF! It's like you'd be if a squirrel attacked you.

if i ever go hunting (unlikely. i have too much dislike of leaving my nest) im never using anything beyond a bow and arrow. and not those fucked up heads that have huge blades.... whats the point in bow hunting if the head of the arrow is a set of blades that spin around, boreing a hole through whatever its aimed at. that kind of hunting has no purpose. likely it would contaminate the meat and destroy bones in the process. what a waste.

Actually, the large blades do have a purpose. They're meant to cut blood vessels so the target bleeds out. This way if the arrow does not strike anything vital, the animal isn't walking around for days, weeks, or more with an arrow sticking out of it.

I agree. He bested the cat at its own game, and therefore, despite hating the loss of poor kitty, he commands respect.

Boom Stick? Oh yeah, I know what those are. :P

Have you considered that maybe it was too old to hunt prey animals, and had too hunt us (mostly wimpy) humans instead? Perhaps its time was already up.

Yes, I did consider the possibility. It is quite possible.. but either way, I hate to see the cat die.
