My foot got drunk

gizaI went to see Dr. G yesterday for a second opinion about my foot. I gave him a brief history and offered to show him my MRI, to which he said, "MRIs really aren't that useful for catching neuromas. I base my diagnosis on what the patient tells me". Wow, imagine that!
So, we discussed treatment, and he also recommended alcohol sclerosing, since nothing else seemed to work, and it would be less invasive than surgery. Since I wasn't very happy with Dr. S (he seemed more like a gym teacher than a doctor), I asked Dr. G if he would mind doing the injections. He had no problem, and immediately shot my 4th nerve in the left foot full of a solution of local anesthesia and 4% alcohol. This resulted in that area being numb the rest of the day yesterday, and so far today, it has hurt a LOT less. I'm really happy about this.
In the coming weeks, I will need a few more shots to completely kill off the nerve, and that should take care of this problem for good. Dr. G also offered to prescribe some really powerful anti-inflammatory drugs, which I may take him up on. I would like to enjoy myself at Mid-west Fur Fest, after all...
Last night, I also went to a Python users meeting in Philly. It was fun, as I got to geek out with some other folks who programmed in Python. Turns out that myself and 2 of the other Python guys live within a mile of each other in the suburbs. And to think that we spent an hour getting into the city...
