Pity it gets old fast... Its kinda hard to verify things without watching with a chase car... and seeing the actual horn.

My brother had a set of those bolted to brackets on the roof of his Isuzu Trooper.
He had a lot of fun doing that but he could have been arrested for it.
fortunately he mostly got away with it and tended to use them sparingly.
I think he got a little nervous with them after setting his truck on fire when the toggle switch to the air horn got stuck “on” .

"Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn't available in your country.

We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience."

Yeah, because, you know, the stone-tablet computers that we power with dinosaur dung over here couldn't possibly handle those videos. *grumps and curls up tight*

I need a freaking shell account somewhere across the pond.

Why am I laughing? This is perverse! Sick! Twisted!
This is not amusing in the very least! *gigggleguffaw*hahahahah*loLoLOl*

Oh okay, it was slightly humorous. Just glad I wasn't one of the 'victims'. Looks like a slow Suburbia area (just a bit outside of a proper city limits) where.. nothing goes on, so this is how they have to create their 'fun'.

Can ya really blame 'em?

Works fine for me. But then, everything on my system except the timezone is English, and other sections of Google always try to be country-localised.

Likewise here, if you remember, and it doesn't change a thing.

Good to see (hear, rather) that they're using a real locomotive horn. I see a lot of places trying to pass off any set of trumpets as a "train horn" when they're a far cry from the real thing.

A friend of mine does a similar trick each Halloween, stuffing the horn behind a large bush next to the front porch and running the air line to a compressor out back. When the kiddies come up and ring the doorbell, they get rung back. Gets 'em every year!

I agree 100%. I'm glad I let the day pass before responding, because I was nearly shaking with anger. This strikes me as funny as hitting someone with a baseball bat.

If I knew anyone who had one of these, I'd never associate with them again.

Whoa, that's the strongest reaction I've seen yet. Mind if I ask why the video upset you so much?

From watching it, I did not see any evidence of folks suffering any injuries, or any serious emotional distress. Even some of the dogs jumped once, but seemed otherwise unaffected.

When I originally saw it they said it was a Ferry horn though.
What I wanted in Jr. high was a train horn... And juswt because the VW Bug is such a small and disrespected car ;P

Loud, sudden noises are major stressors. Imagine you just got back from Iraq... or are still suffering from a previous trauma. Something like that can destroy not only the rest of your day, but the next *week*. And consider the elderly and infirm! People do actually have heart attacks from such things.

Here's an example closer to home: I've been suffering from severe back spasms over the last few weeks, sometimes to the point that I could hardly stand up. I'm doing better now, but if one of those asshats had blasted near me, it would have forced me to jump and wrench my back into unspeakable pain.

Whatever you're doing gets disrupted: having a conversation, trying to remember something, sleeping (!), everything. There's a reason torturers use sudden, loud noises in their trade.

Look, I totally understand why you think it's funny on the surface. But it fails several tests of a true practical joke: People are broadly targeted, for no reason, and they don't just go "ha ha" when it's done.

Thanks not only for doing that, but for not having an immediate, defensive reaction. I'm trying to figure out how to convey things I feel strongly about without using an attacking tone, and sometimes I fail. I've noticed that you're especially good at being able to see past that, so thanks.
