video 1 of takeoff thrust Talk about a "blow job". *hee*
Video 2 of Sonic piano Sorry. This put me to sleep. If they had put a few more game-cut-scenes while the guy was keying, and not just his hands on the keys... *hmr* whatever. *zzz*
When played on a piano, the similarity of "Sonic" to the music of turn-of-the-century Dada composer Erik Satie really comes out. His stuff is usually a lot slower, but it has the same sort of simple, catchy repetition. Here are some samples.
They did the jet engine trick on MythBusters, but unfortunately beause of safety reasons they weren't allowed to use a real airplane. The truck-mounted jet engines they rented were not adequate enough to flip the car over either.
I always liked his Gymnopdie No. 1 - it's in my playlist right now. Just goes to show you don't need a lot of sound and fury to make something beautiful.
*chuckles* - I always used to play the Sonic theme tunes on my recorder! Still do, on occasion, along with all the other game music that I consider memorable; Warcraft II, Mechwarrior II, Deus Ex and the like. I'd play Tangerine Dream if I could, but I'd need a whole host of recorders . . .
Physics shows that the only engines (that an airplane would use) capable of flipping a car are Turbofans and Ramjets. 707's through 767's are Turbojets and can't flip a car. The 777, the 787, and possibly the 7A7 all will/do use Turbofans, so they might flip a car, the new Airbus (A380 I think?) also uses Turbofans. The C5 has Turbofans as well.
