Well, things have certainly gotten interesting with my foot. After the cortisone injection, I started to see improvement after about 72 hours. Everything was looking good, until last Thursday, when it started to hurt again, worse than before!

So, I managed to get an appointment with Dr. K early this morning (on a Sunday, what a guy!), and he poked and prodded at my foot. Then he explained to me that the pain is no longer over the nerve, but over the bone, which means that it may be broken. He explained that sometimes when a neuroma is treated, as the foot is used again, a fracture occurs in one the bones, as it had not been bearing weight for the last several weeks.

Tomorrow, I get my foot X-rayed at the hospital, then I'm off to a podiatrist so he can examine the X-ray, and determine what sort of treatment is needed. This will probably be a cast on my foot for 2-6 weeks.

Overall, I'm somewhat relieved by this, for the following reasons:

  1. Fractures are easier to treat than pinched nerves.
  2. I can now start taking anti-inflammatory drugs for the pain, whee!
With a little luck, I might even be fully recovered by Anthrocon.
