- Sometime last week, I met up with [livejournal.com profile] kovucougar, who was in Philly for the day. We had dinner at a nice Chinese place, and got to actually chat about the latest going ons in our lives. Then we bummed around the lovely part of Philly known as "South Street".

- I got Apache and PHP installed in my Powerbook. I didn't install the packages from Fink, because that would have been too easy. Plus, Fink still had Apache 1.3.x, and I wanted to mess with Apache 2. Also, I tried something new: rather than installing things as root, I tried setting them up under my own user account and running out of the directory $HOME/development/. So now I can more easily work on Apache, and not have to worry about all sorts of permissions issues. The next thing on my development plate is to use the MySQL installation that fink provided and to set up a directory under development/ so that I can tie it into PHP and start playing with content management systems like Drupal.

- I got today off from work "for free". We had a fairly big project that had a due date of next Tuesday (the end of the month). Since we managed to finish it up yesterday, our boss gave us today off. We get paid for it, and it doesn't count against our vacation days, either. It gave me a chance to catch up on my sleep, hit the gym, and do some more work on the backup scheme for my Powerbook. Did I mention I'm getting PAID for it? :-)

- I picked up another Linksys WRT54G router yesterday. This one is going up to my parents' place with me tomorrow, and I'll be installing it on their shiny new DSL line. After that, i shall consume much turkey and wine.

That's all the geeky news for now. Happy Thanksgiving!
