Ahh.. "BRAINIACS" In the US, if you have the pathetic "G4" network.. (destoyers of the much missed "TechTV"), check out their late night line up for this British import, which is best describe as "Mythbuster" meets "Jackass".. one of their mottos "Doing Science for all the WRONG Reasons". Great fun to watch.

The other video you mention shows a demo of the wonderful compound Thermite... Not too hard to make and wonderfuly dangerous to play with.
