He probably got turned down, and that's why he turned them in. Not right away, of course, but when they saw the raw fish tracks.

Now, hookers have to deal with the foulest of drug abusers, bums, oddly fragranced foreigners, and people who just decide to beat the piss out of them for no good reason. Imagine how bad that rotted cod scent must have been for him to get turned away. Someone will have to pull double duty at work this week...
