And the rest of you who are U.S. citizens should do so too. Voting is your civil right, and it is your chance to change the way things are.

Also, if you encounter any problems whatsoever when trying to vote, call 866-OUR-VOTE. In addition to having a call center staffed by experienced attorneys, they also have "mobile attorneys" who drive around waiting for problems to be reported so that they can stop by and fix the problem.

Vote. It's your legal right.

[Edit: I also recommend watching the video Hacking Democracy, just released today. It covers just how easy it is to hack some of the voting machines out there, and why it places the democratic process at risk.]

We *think* we voted... VA's gone to the new electronic voting machines, and they were already having trouble with one of the two machines that were in our polling place this morning. Wouldn't display the senate candidate, so they spent 20 minutes on the phone zeroing it out so the guy could try again, and then it wouldn't display the candidate for commonwealth attorny. We used the machine that appeared to be working correctly, but they still hadn't fixed the second one by the time we left. I don't like the odds on this one.

I understand that the OCSE has sent observers to keep an eye on the election process. I wonder if that has made the news in the US. I mean, an originally European organization that works under the UN, and that usually concerns itself with banana republics, not first-world countries... That's gotta cause unrest. :(

I watched that this afternoon. It's amazing to see how easily these voting machines can be modified, and furthermore, how no one even needs to even physically modify the machine - all they need is the card itself.

But Diebold insists that it has 'improved' the machine to add security, but no one can really no that but the company itself. And shame on Cleveland for spending 22m USD on Diebold voting machines AFTER hearing and seeing how the machines were unreliable.

I honestly hope that in this very close election where there is a lot at stake, that there are not many instances of fraud. I wouldn't even care if the Republicans, Democrats, Independents, whomever won. The larger issue is to make every vote count.

With Diebold voting machines in use, I don't know how any of the places using them can be 100% certain that this will be done.

What needs to happen is for Optimus Prime to win the election one year. Maybe /that/ will draw attention to the problem.

Voted, now here's to hoping that the candidates I picked actually win. Actually, I think the PA Governor's Race isn't much of a contest. ^_^;
