It's interesting they touch on the whole Nynorsk thing there - now that is a mess and a half (though Bokmål has its own issues). Of course, English is hardly great either . . .

When I was taking a Swedish class at Rice, the teacher showed us a little bit of the Danish language and its bizarre pronunciation idiosyncracies. Then he told us about a joke that the Swedes and Norwegians like to tell, which is that Danish isn't a language, it's a throat disease. :}
