So I was a little late for work this morning

Bad news: I couldn't fall asleep until 4 AM last night. Good news: I slept like a rock. No unpleasant dreams for the first time in about a week.

In the morning, I was woken up for a change not by my alarm clock, but by a raging thunderstorm going on at about 8 AM. I got ready for work, and left my apartment to be greeted with this:



See, that's the problem of living on a major street without sufficient drainage or a shoulder. When the rain comes down, the right hand half of the right hand lane turns into a river. And the sidewalk turns into a water park. The best umbrella and rain gear in the world wouldn't protect me against splashes like that.

I also got an appointment with the pawdiatrist... for next Thursday. So in the meantime, I need to rest my paws as best I can.

Aside from that, I did some work on the Pennsylvania Furries website tonight. At the suggestion of kitt3ns, I created an Introductions forum and moved all the existing intro posts into it. I also banged on the user template and forum template and made the "species" field from user profiles clickable. Examples of how this field can be used now:

But yeah, the rain was crazy this morning. The 50 foot walk from my apartment to my car completely soaked me. Wouldn't have happened, except my umbrella was in my car.

I sat there watching more and more red stuff go over on the doppler radar as the storm system moved NORTH instead of EAST.

And the best part? I had exactly the same thing happen last night when I got off the train. Had to camp out in the shelter for 20 minutes, and had a storm system also moving north. I don't get it.

We got hit with that same storm about rush hour up here in CT. My town ended up with the highest rain total for the state, at 4" in about 2 hours.

It jumped the banks on the dry overflow channel in the yard and ran across the driveway and into the pond. This is what get for living in a swamp.

I think anything that hits you hits here about 10 minutes later, since the storms always seem to move east to west. As a result, I narrowly missed the storms by about 15 minutes last night. :P

It poured for a good 30 minutes, though. Literally buckets. I could barely see out my windows.

They're calling for more storms tomorrow as well...
