Last weekend, the very nice [livejournal.com profile] skiprudder came up to visit me. We didn't do much other than watch movies and hang out. He showed me North By Northwest, and I showed him Riding Bean (a rather violent anime). And we also watched some episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus. :-)

Later in the weekend, I picked up a couple of new PS2 games. The first one was Legends of Wrestling, which featured WWF superstars from years past, such as Hulk Hogan and Superfly Snuka. I paid about $13 for that game, and it was worth it. The game has a very "unfinished" look to it. There could have been much more work done on it. The lack of hearing the wrestlers' voices and their actual theme songs was also disappointing. But then again, I've come to expect this from Acclaim. Ever since their NES days, they (and their subsidiary LJN) did the same thing over and over: buy some big name license (such as Total Recall, Back to the Future, Wrestlemania,The Simpsons etc.), then proceed to produce a total piece of sh*t game based on it. I can remember playing a bunch of their games and being COMPLETELY disappointed at how bad the graphics, sound, and gameplay were. What a horrible business model. That company should be drug out and shot, and all their games should be microwaved.

Anyway... the other game I got is called Jak and Daxter. Very funny adventure/platform game. Your best friend gets turned into a furry, and you spend the game trying to change him back. The acting is great, the play control great, and Daxter (your transformed friend) is probably at LEAST as sarcastic as [livejournal.com profile] unciaa is. :-) I haven't quite finished the game yet, but I'm working on that.

Much didn't happen the rest of the week. I spent most of the week at work on a bughunt through some old classes of mine. Unit tests are definitely my friend.

The hurricane didn't do much to me in Philly. A bit of wind, some rain, and that was about it. My town got especially lucky, as I didn't lose any power, nor did any trees fall (that I knew of). A couple of towns next to us had some tree problems, though. I saw several trees that had fallen over, which had taken some powerlines with them. One even blocked one of the roads that I normally take in the morning, which made for an interesting detour.

Other than that, things are pretty much okay. W00w00!

Change him back?! Why?

I'll second that. That goal is right up there with "save humanity" in the Backward Goals category. :p

I liked the NES Wrestlemania...

Though I agree that Back to the Future was a complete shit game. Same goes for LJN's X-Men NES game. Total shit.

I played Legends of Wrestling II. I don't fancy the control scheme much (really, it's derivative of the Attitude/War Zone system), but I really like the wrestler interviews on the disc. Very interesting stuff.
