"Gun control" means hitting the target!
Sep. 21st, 2003 07:15 pmI went to a Pink Pistols shoot yesterday. It's a monthly thing that each chapter has at a local shooting range. Since it was my first time there, and the first time I had fired weapons in many years, I got acquainted with some of the guns, and got some basic instruction in how to use them properly. Mad props go to Blaze/Rosenotter for that, and for bringing along some of his guns for me to try out. I remember shooting a 9mm pistol, a .38 revolver, an AK-47, a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, and a Tommy Gun. I got to make a lot of noise, had a lot of fun, and learned some new stuff.
stormydragon also let me try out his .45 revolver, which was, quite literaly, a blast! Thanks d00d!
Upon returning home last night, I was treated to an interesting sight. A raccoon was wandering around the courtyard of my apartment building. He was walking in circles, sniffing at the ground, paying me no attention even though I was 20 feet away. He didn't even jump when I blew my car's horn. I figure that either he was accustomed to humans (not good) or had rabies (also not good!), so I called it in to the local police. An officer swung by about an hour later, but the raccoon had obviously wandered off by then. So he suggested that if I see him again, to give them a call, and that he would also report it to local game warden.
Other than that, I finished up Jak and Daxter this weekend. Even got the hidden ending, which wasn't all that great. Then I played through the demo for Jak 2 again, and some things made much more sense than before.
I also moved SpamProbe into production on my machine. I fed it several thousand spams, and a few thousand good e-mails, and it's been doing a pretty good job of classifying my spam. It's been working for me much better than SpamAssassin, since it can "learn" from e-mails which it mistakenly flags as spam or flags as good. I think I'll like this product.
