Time for some interesting things I've found on the web recently. Starting with...

Spam fighters infiltrate spam clubs - An article that talks about anti-spammers infiltrating invite-only conferences that spammers have been holding so that they can learn more about these scumbags. The newest technique of spammers? Sending spam from PCs that are infected with various viruses and trojans. All the more reason to keep the anti-virus software on your machines updated!

What happens when water and electricity mix - Not a pretty sight.

Asteroid Strike! - Ever wonder what would happen if an asteroid struck in Los Angeles and you were 8 hours away in San Francisco? Here's a hint: it's not fun.

A look at Aspect Oriented Programming - This is for folks who have a pretty good background in OOP programming. AOP is a technique for adding functionality into an existing class hierarchy without destroying it in the process. Kinda like #include pre-compiler directives on crack.

Use of manure-powered generators on the rise. - Heh huh huh huh... POOP!

I forgot who runs Sol.Net too.. Grr. I used to work for the same company he ran Newsgroups for (ExecPC). His other picture in the hall of shame came from the NOC building (with the soldiered connections) in New Berlin too. Funny stuff.

Thanks for the AOP link. Aspect Oriented Programming looks VERY cool. I can see the learning curve being very steep though.

Oh yeah. AOP should not be attempted by anyone who doesn't have a solid foundation in OOP and the principles of abstraction. Otherwise, spaghetti code may result. :-)

*laughs* I have been working on stuff like that for years :)

I donno how far AOP will go in the industry because some of the features run a pretty high risk of being misuesd may hurt AOP in the end. Time will tell.

Compared to what, Microsoft products? Look at all the poorly written VB code and mis-managed Windows servers out there. AOP will do fine. :-)

LOL. This is a good point :)
However, MS products are seen as "safe" because the great company that is Microsfot is there to back them. Remember "No one ever got fired for picking a Microsoft solution" oh and here is another great one "Microsoft would never do anything that wasn't for the benifit of it's customers"

In 1990 I had my eletrical service replaced for that reason of -- water -- every rain on the old service had water running down and out the bottom of the service box.
Upon closer look at the removed service device, one of the bus bars inside had a chunk out of it from arcing.
I was luckly that I had it replaced.

On the spam site, I heard people say that before but it is good to see it writen up like this to hand to others.
We have to get the two items together -- water leaking in on spammers computes.... ummm just silly thoughts
