Events of the last week or so

First off, regarding this rant I wrote about SpamCop, I recently got in touch with Ellen, one of the SpamCop deputies, and she was able to list my machine's IP as a "legitimate e-mail sender" in the SpamCop database. This means that my machines should stop showing up as a "spam source" when people report spam that comes through a forwarder on it. Cool beans!

I rented Phonebooth over the weekend. The movie was a bit of a thriller and a mindf*ck, with an unusual plot: a stranger calling up a random person at a phonebooth and terrorizing them. Some rather unrealistic situations detracted from the movie, though. I'd say it's at least 2 stars out of 4.

I've been watching more Anime Music Videos. I found this one, which has the audio from the Return of the King trailer, and the video from Transformers: The Movie. I think it's about the best video I have EVER seen. The lipsynching was probably the best I've ever seen in any video and the presentation was done pretty well. (Gandalf is played by Optimus Prime, Frodo is played by Hotrod, Legolas is played by Starscream, and Sauron is played by Unicron :-)

Last weekend I got a reprieve from a prior obligation, so I spent about 3 hours at the gym on Saturday and Sunday. I'd say that was time well spent. I also spent Saturday evening filing about 3 months of paperwork (bank statements, 401(k)s, Roth IRAs, oh my!)

I think the scale at the gym is practicing some bizarre form of psychological warfare on me... In the last month or so, I've gone from 188 pounds down to 178, yet I'm lifting more than ever. Then again, I've been eating lots of protein bars, at least one a day, and have cut a lot of the sugar out of my diet, as I mentioned in this LJ post. Maybe it's just having a really good effect on me!

I've been having some trouble falling and staying asleep over the past few weeks. My body wants to stay up until 1 AM or so. If I try to fall asleep any earlier, I find myself just staring at the ceiling. Then I get up at 8:30 the next morning and find myself rather groggy. I've tried taking melatonin, and while that knocks me out, if I get less than 8-9 hours of sleep, I find myself feeling groggy the next morning. Feh.
