Fun weekend!
Aug. 16th, 2004 12:52 pmThis past weekend was the Great Anthrocon Storage Locker Cleanout! The reason why a cleanout was necessary was because as AC wound down, stuff was packed up and put on the truck as fast as possible. So what we needed to do was unpack everything, sort it by department, throw out the stuff that wasn't needed, and repack it. In attendence we had
bigtig,
susandeer,
thefoxes,
triggur, and Petercat. We spent most of Saturday afternoon cleaning out the storage locker and it went pretty well. If anyone would like pictures of the event, drop me a line via e-mail or IM.
Somewhere in there we inflicted Meet The Feebles on
triggur. Poor hoss. The hurricane on Saturday was pretty much a non event for us, as it stayed out in the Atlantic ocean. We barely even got any rain in our area, and that's fine by us considering how much rain we've gotten recently. I also set up a NATing box/wireless network for
unclekage this weekend. It was kinda neat having several of us just sitting in the living room all doing e-mail and stuff on our laptops. Wireless definitely rocks.
Sometime last week I got my new printer working. It's an HP DeskJet 5150 that I got with my Powerbook. Again, I love my Mac, because I just plugged the printer into the USB port, and it just... worked. In the near future I think I'll also be getting a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use with my Powerbook. I still have to migrate over a few things like e-mail, a MUCK client, Open Office, and GNU Cash, and I think I'll be ready to start using it exclusively and replace RedHat on my desktop with GenToo. Woo! :-)

Date: 2004-08-31 10:47 am (UTC)I believe thunderbird has a native OS X version, dunno about muck clients. There's always tiny fugue. ;)
Open Office runs on OS X, I think but I think it still needs the X server, but you'd need that for GNU Cash, too. ;)
Oh, if you use IRC, there's XChat aqua..

Even from PC land, I wish I had a mac powerbook :P
