Running Shoes

In the typical day, I walk anywhere between 2 and 4 miles, most of it on the streets of Philadelphia, and while wearing a backpack and carrying a laptop. Several weeks ago, my feet began to start hurting a LOT. It got so bad that I had to start leaving my laptop at the office when I went home for the night, and fortunately the pain went away after about a week.
But, I was worried about what could have suddenly caused this, and what I could do to keep it from coming back. So, I did a little research into foot problems, talked to a few people, and decided that rather than wearing hiking boots all the time, that I would be better off spending money on a decent pair of walking/running shoes (aka cross-trainers) which would be better for my feet.
So, earlier today, I stopped by a local shoe store and checked out their sneakers. It was interesting for 2 reasons. First, it's the first time in about 2 years that I didn't buy my shoes online, and second, the sales staff were really nice and helpful to me. The second is a definite sign that I'm getting older. ;-)
Came back home, put on the shoes, and went for a walk. The shoes just... FEEL much better than my old hiking boots. I'm glad I bought them. And yes
mach, I did pick New Balance as my brand.
