Wow, it's not every day that I receive abusive and profane e-mail for websites I don't even run (namely spambag.org). And hey, this guy even managed to invoke Godwin's Law in the very first message, excellent!

Way to go Tom, admit that you know I don't run spambag.org, then proceed to cuss me out anyway. That'll be productive. Almost as productive as attaching the name of your business to the e-mail.

Hi postmaster. This self-righteous, fascist, prick SPAMBAG has taken it upon
himself to screw innocent people because YOU allow spammers to abuse the
internet. I am trying to conduct legit biz with people who contacted me
first, and I got busted-- using a non-fixed IP address-- by this net Nazi
asshole. Please fix this or I will have to find a new server. I am unhappy
with your product anyway, and if I am going to be prevented from doing
business because I am in bad company, then, well, what would you do?

Is THIS what you want? I agree with you that the net needs to be cleaned up,
but your methods put you in historically bad company. Maybe you are smugly
net savvy, but your methods have you licking the bootheels of Stalin, Hitler
and others. Good luck with your holy war. Like I said, I agree with your
goals if not your self-righteousness, but the lady who emailed me seeking my
business may reconsider her participation when she hears of this.

I have to admit, I'm somewhat confused...what exactly is this guy's story he's trying to lament in the email? Is he even a victim of spam? Are you even involved at all?

Okay, here's the deal. As you probably know, I run The SPAM-L Mailing List (http://www.claws-and-paws.com/spam-l/). Then there's spambag.org (http://www.spambag.org/), which is a privately run blacklist that I have no affiliation with. Where our paths cross is if you look on their contact page (http://www.spambag.org/contact.html), where the owner explains that if you are blocked, you should post a message to the SPAM-L list (or news.admin.net-abuse.email on Usenet) and he'll get in touch with you. Folks have gone that route in the past to speak with the owner of Spambag, and haven't had any problems.

Sometimes people will get confused, think it's my list, and e-mail me questions. Those people I respond to, point out that it's not my list, and send them over to the SPAM-L mailing list. I don't mind helping those people out, especially when the other person shows a little bit of politeness. Sometimes, some dumbass (http://www.claws-and-paws.com/personal/morons/globalparty.com.txt) will think Spambag is my list and give me an attitude.

But this guy... he's a whole new experience for me. He figured out that I don't run Spambag, and proceeded to send me an abusive message anyway. And I really don't take kindly to that, as you may have noticed.
