Tsunami photo

This image was of the Tsunami as it hit the shore. As you can see from the height and size of the wave, it's not just something that you can stand in. (Note the guy and the boats in the foreground) It is literally a wall of water which obliterates everything in its path.

This CNN article has a link to a photo gallery of more images from the Tsunami which were recovered from the digital camera of a couple that perished in the tidal wave.

Saw that on CNN - I think it's the most definitive photo of the reality of a tsunami. Other pictures didn't really establish a scale.

This is the first photo I've seen, I've been hesitant to look at any others thus far because of the total factor of seeing something so powerful and devistating.

*long sigh*

I guess after looking at it now it's really more intruiging then anything else, knowing that something like this actually does happen and it's not something from the fictional river styx or some blown out anime film.

What I've heard most from friends seeing footage of the tsunami (there were a couple rare videos that survived; I'd link if I had a little extra time) is "Holy shit, it's moving so fast!" It's not just the sheer mass of the thing--scary enough, admittedly--but that a tsunami can travel up to 500 mph. Just because it's big doesn't mean it's slow.
