Why did the fox cross the road?

I don't know why a fox would do such a thing, but I really didn't have a chance to think about it on the way home tonight. While driving down a back road, a wild gray fox darted out right in front of me and ran across the road. At first I thought it was a rabbit, but after watching it move and seeing its tail, I quickly realized what it was.

After it crossed, I drove ahead and stopped the car so I could get a better look. But all I saw was it running deeper into the woods.

First time I ever saw a fox in the wild, too. Made for a nice end to the week.

I nearly ran over one at, of all things, the onramp onto the A7 at the A2/A7 interchange. Still wondering how he got there in the first place, as the whole area's fenced off with sound protection walls for kilometers ahead. :P

I work nights at ARL/APG in Maryland (home of the ENIAC!) Driving off base one morning around 0800, I saw a BIG Red fox climbing up the embnakment by the main road.

The wildlife is flourishing at APG, despite the warnings to NOT drink the water, buried chemical weapons, etc... What, you mean deer are supposed to have both antlers on the same head?
