From [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1. Who is your mobile phone provider, and how many minutes are in your plan?

Verizon Wireless, and I get 300 day minutes and something like 3000 night/weekend minutes. I don't talk on the phone all that much, so those minutes are more than enough for me.

2. What program do you primarily use for instant messaging?

I use GAIM on my Linux box at the office and Adium on my Mac at home. Both are free, both speak just about any chat protocol out there, and both do not have ads like the proprietary products do. I highly recommend using them.

I also use Trebuchet for MUCKing on FurryMUCK.

3. Who do you send and receive text messages from most?

If you count hanging out in a room on FurryMUCK, I'd have to say that I've chatted the most with [livejournal.com profile] tailen. [livejournal.com profile] triggur and [livejournal.com profile] unclekage would be tied for second place, and [livejournal.com profile] unciaa is on the bottom in third place.

4. What area code do you live in?

I live in Philly. How many area codes would you like to hear? :-)

5. What year did you first get an e-mail address and do you still use it?

Um, 1995, I think. I was briefly doug.muth@father.com through a local BBS, the now-defunct Father and Son Information Service. After a few months, I went and got a terminal account at the also now-defunct Oasis Telecommunications, where I was known as dmuth@ot.com for many years. I finally abandoned the address sometime in 2003 or so because of all the spam I was getting there. :-/

I just thought I'd let you know you've been invited someplace. Please check http://www.livejournal.com/manage/invites.bml. LJ doesn't send emails to tell people they've been invited, and most people don't know about checking their Invites page so I thought I'd drop in and point you there. Sorry to be a bother. :)

Pretty much, yeah.

They exited the Internet access market in 2002, if memory serves. They then sold their customer base to NuNet (nni.com), who just sucked. Most of their infrastructure ran on Windows machines, and the unfortunately consequence of that was when I had technical issues, their people were absolute morons. ("What do you mean you can't tell me why the system thought I was still logged in after I got disconnected. Check your syslog--oh, wait.")

Oasis and Renaissance still seem to live on through Black Box (http://www.blkbx.com/), however. I wonder if they're still using SGIs on the server end. :-)
