Powerbook Applecare followup
Dec. 4th, 2005 07:53 pmSo, I got my Powerbook back last week, but haven't had a chance to write about the overall experience I had with AppleCare. First, a timeline:
Friday, November 18th: Late at night, my hard drive started maing clicking noises and had problems accessing data, as "disk0: I/O error" message in syslog are pretty much final. Confirmed problems by booting from my install CD and trying to scan the disk.
Saturday, November 19th: Called AppleCare and described the problem, booted from the install desk as instructed by the tech, problem persisted, he gave me a dispatch number and told me to watch for a box.
Monday, November 21st: The box arrives.
Tuesday, November 22nd: Sent Powerbook back in box.
Friday, November 25th: DHL tries delivering the powerbook, which had been fixed, but I was out of town that day. :-)
Monday, November 28th: Get Powerbook delivered for real this time. New hard disk, works just fine. For reasons unknown, they replaced the keyboard too. Okay then.
The whole experience was amazingly smooth, and probably the best support experience I've ever had for an entire machine. Yay Apple!
