Utah Megaplex refuses to show Brokeback Mountain

What irritates me about this isn't that they chose not to show it, but they reneged at the last minute. I wonder if they were pressured by conservative groups.

The other group mentioned in the article, Equality Utah, has a website at http://www.equalityutah.org/. Yes, they accept donations online.

Giza I'm going to repost this in my LJ and ask others to do so. While I have no problems with theatres picking and choosing what movies they show; its blatantly obvious what is going on here. Esp considering its fracking Utah.

Yup. I have to wait for video. Though the flick would probably do quite well in Salt Lake, we have a little bit of a...problem...in this state: Liiiiiiittle bit of backward thinking, makes it kind of difficult to do things which can (and should) be perfectly normal. Of course, bit by bit the face of the state changes, and incidents like this one help open dialogues and make people think--something a lot of them aren't used to doing for themselves.
