What a week
Jun. 27th, 2007 11:06 pmSo, my parents are in the hospital. Both of them.
Tuesday afternoon, my mother (
music4fun) began suffering stomach pains and vomiting. She was rushed to the ER, and a day later, the doctors figured out the cause: gallstones. She's scheduled for surgery to remove her gall bladder this Friday.
My father had a surgery scheduled early this morning. It was an elective procedure which involved scraping some bone off his hip and fusing his ankle with it. This was due to some pretty nasty arthritis in his ankle that kept getting worse and worse over the years. The problem is that it required two specialists to coordinate their schedules and plan this months in advance, so he couldn't just skip it.
All things considered, my parents are doing well given the circumstances. Family members are checking in on my mother up in Allentown, and I've been checking in on my father, who is down here in Philly. One of my aunts is a Registered Nurse, and she has been a BIG help throughout all this.
The main effect of this on me means that I'll have less free time to get random stuff done. Oh well, it's only an inconvenience, and far lesser than what I'm sure my parents are going through right now.
Plus, I get to see my parents soaring high on morphine, which is kinda fun to watch. :-P
