Scott's old cellphone

Ever since I got my new cellphone back in November, I've been getting a number of calls asking for "Scott". Seems that my number was the old number for his cellphone. It wasn't a big problem really, everyone who called asking for him was rather polite and apologetic when I explained that I was not Scott and I had no contact information for him.

Yesterday, I got an interesting call:

Me: Hello?

Voice: Is this Scott's old cellphone number?

Me: Um, yeah...

Voice: Ah, this is Scott. I just wanted to apologize to you for all the calls you've been getting. I'm a salesman, so I get lots of calls. I made sure to give out my new number to everyone, but some folks still seem to have the old number.

Very interesting, to say the least. I chatted with Scott for another minute or two, and he was nice enough to give me his new cell phone number so that I could give it out to future callers. Seeing that he was nice enough to call me and explain what went on, I think I'll return the favor and give out his new number to people who call asking for him...

I know what you mean. I got my old phone number about eighteen months ago, and I was getting calls for Esmond Ho, the person that used to own it... Just be glad you didn't get any calls from people who only speak chinese... I did.
