Um... why did that website load a thingy telling me to scan and clean my registry, and then warn me that my computer might be fucked if I did not run the scan?

I don't like sites that do that.

Because they wanted you to install their spyware.

I didn't even notice that because I reflexively close secondary windows that open without looking at them.

Well I did close the window, which was a browser window. But when I closed it I got an actual WINDOWS error box that said something like," By canceling the scan you may leave your computer open to blah blah blah". Ironic, coming from something trying to install SPYWARE onto your PC. =P
