Seriously, no. It's just a more customizable LJ (with PMs, I believe) that's harder to navigate as a result. Just stick with the comm methods you've got, and you won't get dragged into pointless drama(tm). It has a fairly prominent history of that.
Myspace is full of drama and caters toward "meeting people" locally. It's also more accomodating to the folks who poke around your information to learn more about you and your friends, and your friends' friends... ect
MySpace hasn't been taken over by the furry community like Live Journal has.
I have a MySpace account, but only because the company that owns MySpace owns the company I work for. Plus, to get a better look at the HILARIOUS pages some people put together, you need an account.
I made an awesome r/l friend from it, and i don't even have an account. I stil don't want an account, but i am glad i met him cause we allways seem to have time to go out and get away
