...and it was totally boring. Despite the noise, I managed to fall asleep while it was being done. Good thing they they put padding around my head to keep it from moving. And no [livejournal.com profile] triggur, they would not give me the dataset. I asked.

On the subject of possible causes, I poked around http://www.menieresinfo.com/start.html and saw these symptoms for Meniere's Disease:

- Fluctuating (episodic) hearing loss.
- Fluctuating (episodic) rotational vertigo (a form of dizziness).
- Fluctuating (episodic) tinnitus (a sound heard when there is no sound).
- Fluctuating (episodic) aural fullness (a sense of pressure in the middle ear, as if descending in an airplane; however, it is *not* actual pressure in the middle ear).

The only one of these I have is tinnitus, and it's constant. So that's a relief.

My next appointment with the ENT is on Monday morning. More news should come after then.

I actively avoid webbing my symptoms so I don't turn into a nutcase thinking I have the Andromeda Strain. I do however use webmb for referencing how to treat this and that and for drug interaction advice. I'm going to sched an ENT exam as well once I find out the damage from the MRI on my ankle. :x( I want to be well again.

Speaking of MRI:

Did you feel any warmer, or even tingly when they kicked in the RF? I'm trying to find out the frequency (or frequencies) that these scanners operate on. Can't say that I ever had an MRI scan.

Hmmm, that seems to be the frequency of the magnetic field, down in the AF range.

According to the page, the frequencies that an MRI scanner operates is around 10 MHz and 100 MHz. If that's true, that means it can cover 30m HAM, to the mid-upper part of the FM broadcast band :-P

they would not give me the dataset. I asked.

I think they are *required* to give you the dataset for a test on your body, but only after your doctor has discussed the results with you.

Hopefully it was an Open MRI. The older units freak me the hell out. But yeah, when I had an MRI on my knee I dozed off while listening to some nice mellow new age music.

Actually, it's federal law that they HAVE to give you the dataset if you ask. That's part of the HIPAA regulations. And they could be in deep shit if they deny it.

Under the final rule, patients will have significant new rights to understand and control how their health information is used.

Ensuring patient access to their medical records. Patients will be able to see and get copies of their records, and request amendments. In addition, a history of non-routine disclosures must be made accessible to patients.
