Surreal doctors visit
Mar. 8th, 2006 02:09 pmMy visits with Dr. K (my Primary Care Physician) keep getting stranger and stranger.
I saw him this morning to report back what my ENT told me on Monday and to further discuss my condition. I also let him know that I experienced a rather loud, pulsating ringing in my left ear on Monday from the Naproxen I was taking. He explained the mechanical process by which Naproxen could have caused this to happen (which I didn't fully understand) and stated that in conjunction with what's going on in my right ear (the eardrum still looks like it's under negative pressure), the underlying cause may be some sort of dysfunction in my Eustachian Tubes.
So, what can be causing the Eustachian Tubes to act up? Allergies are one possible cause. I have none as far as I know, but we're testing that. He gave me some samples of Clarinex and nasal spray (Nasacort AQ) to take over the next two weeks and see if anything changes.
So, as for the strangeness... a number of odd things were uttered by him during the appointment. Stuff like:
Now excuse me while I spray medicine up my nose. :-P

- "Your health care company does not think you are a person. They think you are a bug to be squashed."
- "Symmetrical people are NOT to be trusted. They are usually androids."
- "Please do not use these pills in place of olives in martinis."
Now excuse me while I spray medicine up my nose. :-P

eustachian tubes
Date: 2006-03-08 08:21 pm (UTC)these days it's not so bad(or I've grown used to the constant irritation), but none of the surgeries fixed the underlying pressure issues and people always ask me why I open my mouth and exhale abruptly - I'm just trying to force the tubes open for a moment to equalize pressures.
never used any medications for it though.

Date: 2006-03-08 08:23 pm (UTC)I first noticed this around Christmas, which was 2 weeks after I started my new job in the city. Lots of changes there. Hmm.
