Power outage cuts train service in Philadelphia, NJ, DC, and NYC

My commute into the city turned from a 25 minute train ride into a 50 minute bus ride, most of it standing. Boy that was fun.



In other news, I went to the dentist this morning, and no cavities!

I walked further to lunch just now than I did this morning.

The issue was standing for 30+ minutes in a crowded bus.

It had to be more than that to affect several hundred miles of track like it did.

A substation in Philly died and managed to kill power to the entire NE rail corridor.

I take a train to/from work every day too, but, it's diesel electric, so, doesn't rely on overhead power. My father takes a train too, but his line does run on electric. They had to wait for a diesel engine to come push their train the rest of the way to the station.
