Sometimes it's best to quit while you're ahead.

F@ck! o.O

I would say that's the quintessential definition of a bad day.

Porcupine spines grow in layers, with sharp ridges around the rim of each layer, so that once they're in, they travel through flesh when muscles move - if you've got one deep in your leg, for example, the only way to get it out is to cut off the end and let it travel all the way through your muscle. That many spines, in for god knows how long, means at least one is going to be missed. And even one can be deadly if it goes the wrong direction.

Might take a while, and it's not going to be pretty. Infection may well kill before mutilation does.

OMG. What kind of dog is that under there? And would that explain the single-mindedness (bloody-mindedness?) that would let the battle go that far?!?

That was an English Bullterrier. A much more even tempered breed, but people usually mistake them for Pit Bulls.

Ah! Thank you, I sit corrected. The article referred to, above, at Snopes initially identifies her a pitbull, although corrects that to bull terrier further down. There's a second picture there, too, showing face-on.

Wow. That looks like one of the two dogs that was in emergency when we had to take Guin in a couple of weeks ago. They had the quills in their tongues. Yewwww.

Ummm... Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. How many quills does one porcupine have? I never would have guessed that many.

Ouch.

Bull terriers have a simple ruleset.

If something pisses you off, BITE IT.
If the bitten thing continues to piss you off, BITE IT HARDER.

This works with most things. But not porcupines.

I already saw that picture before. The article on the link (if it's true) I've seen for the first time. WOW... it's incredibly that this dog survived that! I would have bet that they put her to sleep after that...

In the end though it's the porcupine who's defenseless while the other has been transformed into a super killing machine.
