My dentist rocks!
Aug. 11th, 2006 12:12 amFor those that haven't been reading my LJ since 2002, I had some tooth problems back then and wrote about my dental experiences. (See: this, this, and this)
Since then, my dental life has been pretty boring since I started taking better care of my teeth. The last time I was at the dentist for a checkup, I was chatting with the receptionist about her computer and used the opportunity to do a little shameless self-promotion about my mad computer skills and gave her one of my "I Fix Computers" business cards.
A few weeks ago, my cellphone rang one day. It was the receptionist. She was having mouse problems. So I asked a few questions and determined that she had an optical mouse. I advised her to use a mousepad that did not have printing on it and all was well.
Earlier this week, my phone rang again. It was the receptionist who was having keyboard problems this time. She would type one character and two would appear on the screen. I advised her to unplug the keyboard and plug it back in. Problem solved.
When I got home from work, I found some snail mail from my dentist's office. Since I had just had my first checkup under my current employer's insurance plan, I thought that something might have gone wrong with the claim. So I open up the envelope to find: a handwritten thankyou note from my dentist, and a $50 gift card from Staples! 8-)
So... now I have to find something at Staples that goes for about $50... any (legal) suggestions?

Date: 2006-08-11 05:30 am (UTC)The fountain pen and briefcase are awesome ideas, but I would be the only one in my company that had either. :-P
I think maybe I'll start looking at office equipment. :-)

Date: 2006-08-11 01:06 pm (UTC)I thought about that, but then one of two things is going to happen: 1) I get down to $5 remaining, buy something that's $15 and have to shell out $10, or 2) I lose the card while there's value left on it.
Screw that. I want to get that card spent as fast as possible. :-)

Date: 2006-08-11 09:08 pm (UTC)Nah, she was smarter than that. And she was VERY polite, too. I'd have no problem working on their computers again.
