How many 8 year olds can you beat up?

Here are the rules!

The specifics:

• You are in an enclosed area, roughly the size of a basketball court. There are no foreign objects.



• You are not allowed to touch a wall.



• When you are knocked unconscious, you lose. When they are all knocked unconscious, they lose. Once a kid is knocked unconscious, that kid is "out."



• I (or someone else intent on seeing to it you fail) get to choose the kids from a pool that is twice the size of your magic number. The pool will be 50/50 in terms of gender and will have no discernable abnormalities in terms of demographics, other than they are all healthy Americans.



• The kids receive one day of training from hand-to-hand combat experts who will train them specifically to team up to take down one adult. You will receive one hour of "counter-tactics" training.



• There is no protective padding for any combatant other than a standard-issue cup if you're a guy.



• The kids are motivated enough to not get scared, regardless of the bloodshed. Even the very last one will give it his/her best to take you down.

Please feel free to post and discuss the number of 8-year-olds that you could beat up at once.

(Disclaimer: If you think for one second that I am actually serious about beating up children, you should have your head examined!)

Um... I'm not a very well built nor heavy guy, so it wouldn't take too many kids too long to take me out. However, I am tall, so they wouldn't be able to get to my head very easily- they'd have to pull me down first. But again, I'm not exactly strong so its not like thats a rather difficult task, either. I give 15 kids 30 mins to waste me.

Assume they do not try this, but try to knock you about by any other means, which would basically mean headshots.

It depends on how many kids are in the room to start and if they can get there gang on fast enough.

Having a now 10 year old, I can assure you 8 year olds are TOUGH little buggers. Hard to hurt, especially if motivated.

Course once you get a couple of bodies on the ground around you, the others wouldn't be so motivated.

Its wouldn't be as easy to take them down as one might think.

Under such a scene, if the kids are going to be coming at me, I'd quickly put my back near a wall so the opponents cannot come at me from behind. This is a defensive posture. They can only get 4 at a time on me instead of 6 this way. I'm outnumbered, so I have to reduce the advantage that gives them. A corner might be better, but I'd have fewer chances for an escape path opening up.

Without going into details, I expect I'd take out 10 of the lil bastages before being overrun and taken down by sheer numbers.

It's harder to knock people unconscious without potentially really screwing them up than the movies suggest, so an important factor would be what kind of scruples I had in terms of ruining a bunch of kids' chances for a successful, helmet-free adulthood.

That being said, a friend of mine once ran a role playing session to test the Rolemaster combat system, that he called "Linnaeus v. The Cats", in which I played my doughy, real-life self, and the other player controlled the actions of fifty housecats. I prevailed in the end, with the help of improvised blunt instrument style weapons, but as I recall it was a very near thing. Those Rolemaster crit tables could get pretty nasty.

*ponder* I've been asked this before. I never like the answers I can come up with. It always seems too low or too high.

Training level- very high (if a little rusty from disuse)
Fitness level- moderate/high
Motivation- moderate, but under stress (blood drawn?), very high.

If I can be ruthless, I can safely take down around a hundred. And they will be a -mess-, no question.

A decade or so of martial arts specializing in group combat can go a long way against a bunch of young kids. The trouble spot is that they're remarkably tough, and often ignorant of the scape of potential injury.

Now, going by your double number rule, that feels right, because it's HARD to beat up that many people, even if they stand in line and wait. (speaking from experience. Royal Rumble style sparring match in a tournament I went to once... yeesh.)

I could Take quite a large number ( I was in a LOT of fights in school) but I imagine the hard part these days would be K.O ing them without outright bodybaging them.
I would assume fatalities are not acceptable.

Do you know what KIDS are made of? kids have amazing flexibility and bodies that dont break as much as ours do. If they dog pile you your fucked. And being someone who eventually * gasp* wants a kid. and has nephews. I knwo what horros kids are capable of

Just a note to those who think it would be easy: I don't think little kids would have reservation against biting or scratching. You scraching or biting a little kid won't be nearly as effective as 30 little kids biting and scraching you.

Just because I'm not sure of my own fitness level, I'll under-dog it, and say 15. Now do you allow disabled but not unconscious? I mean, one idea that I would have would be to stomp on their knees and make them bend in ways... Well, that when I visualize it, it makes me feel ill.

And along those lines, I beleive that once a child loses use of a major limb, they're going to be significantly dissuaded from continuing?

But if properly motivated and such, I could likely take down 20, maybe even so far as 30.

Um... I've wrestled playfully with my cousin kids recently who are only 6 and 5 respectively and knowing how I have to take a bit of effort to make sure no body gets 'really hurt' in a 'playful' situtation..

I'd count myself lucky to take out 15 of them at once. I'd even be wary to go against 10 motivated buggers of doom!
