Earlier today at work, the power went out. Oops!

So, we spent the time productively:

Then, after being sent home early, I found more proof that SEPTA really does suck:

I also got a birthday card from my parents, and another from their cat. I swear, he gets smarter and smarter every year.

What's so special about the "Monitors out of service" though? :P

That a monitor is displaying that?

At least I guess that's what =P

It should be displaying something like this:

...and that this isn't the first time. The monitors have been out of service a number of times over the last 2 weeks. Really sucks when I'm trying to figure out if my train is on time or not.

Ah well, I'd rather have a monitor display "Monitors not in service" than displaying outdated or just plain wrong information. Sadly though that seems to be a recurring theme with all those fancy new computer displays that are now popping up everywhere, must be something in the displays' operating system that gets them to freeze so often.

At least when the old mechanical announcement boards fail they are a little less subtle...:

I don't read Deutsch too well, so can you point out what's wrong in the sign?

Also, I'd rather that the monitors work. :-)

Oh, the cat could have sent a card before now, you know. He had to make sure you were worthy of one first.... =^_^=

If the power went out, why are the lights still on in the ping pong room.

(Not to mention that's not the first thing I'd think of if you mentioned ping pong at your work.)

They're not. What you see are reflections off of the shiny metal plates that are found in fluorescent light displays these days. Either the flash was responsible for that or the light coming in from the windows just off to the left is.

Also note the lens flare in that picture, which is also a result of the light coming in from the left. (Note in the second picture, where there was proper overhead light, no flare was present.)

You have a whole game room setup at work?

Yep. It also doubles as our meeting room.

I think I need to write a sign generator for SEPTA monitors similar to the Church Sign Generator (http://www.churchsigngenerator.com/)
