Stupid record labels
Dec. 21st, 2006 03:52 pmDespite the fact that it's been several years after Napster first came out, and that iTunes has been around, record labels are still doing the same stupid legal things.
They're not just filing lawsuits, they are filing lawsuits in U.S. courts against businesses in foreign countries. The most recent one is against AllOfMP3.com.
I'm simply amazed that not only are record labels still trying the same tactics, but that they don't seem to get this whole jurisdictional thing. In fact, AllOfMP3 is following the appropriate laws in their jurisdiction: Russia. They pay the proper amount of royalties to the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society (ROMS).
Yet this isn't good enough for Arista, Warner Brothers, Capitol and Universal. Because someone found a way to make money without them getting a cut, they are once again trying to forcibly take that money. Madness.
