For those who haven't followed the plight of Susette Kelo, her cottage in New London, CT was seized in a case of "eminent domain for private gain". Originally, the city added insult to injury by offering her far less than it was worth. After a long legal battle, she finally did get a decent amount of money, but was still forced out. All so that some greedy developer could build there. (Background on Kelo vs. City of New London)

For Christmas, Susette sent Christmas cards to city officials and the development group that read:
Your houses, your homes, your family, your friends.
May they live in misery that never ends.
I curse you all. May you rot in hell.
To each of you I send this spell.

It'll beinteresting to see if the city officials take it like a bunch of men (or women), or try to have Susette arrested over it.

I find this story sad in two way. The obvious tragedy of a woman being forced from her home is the first. However, the second is the way she expresses her outrage and anger. Yes, she has every right to be mad at those responsible. However, to start sending cards that amount to a wish that they be damned for all eternity, well, two wrongs don't make a right.

Whoa dude. I don't think those two things are even in the same ballpark.

Getting forced out of your home is a major life event, and potentially a violation of your rights.

Receiving a nasty card in the mail doesn't come close to that, nor does it violate your rights.

I didn't say they were equal. However, while, yes, the folks that forced the woman out of her home have done a greivous wrong, and yes, her sending those cards are at the same level of wrong as what they did, it was still wrong. I think it is sad that this woman, especially at this time of "peace on Earth" and such, should choose to deliver a message of such hatered, deserved or not.

Err...I meant her sending those cards are NOT at the same level...

Actually, a sufficiently creative sort could have such a thing called 'terroristic threats'.
