But still, this is utterly cool:

From working with some skydivers in years past, it's also a pretty high risk maneuver. If one person screws up while the canopies are deployed and lines get tangled, then several people can wind up in near-freefall. Then you get the fun of pulling out a knife to cut any tangled lines and hope you can deploy your reserve chute in time...

I have never seen anything like this before with sky diving!I've seen it with waterskiing when they have people stand on each others shoulders.

I think they must deploy, then assemble. I can't imagine it going any other way.

Probably. You really get jerked when the chute deploys. (decel from 120+ fps to <18 fps)

Plus, tangled lines in deployment would be really bad if other jumpers were nearby.
