I got email from a patent examiner yesterday. He was researching an anti-spam patent, and had some very detailed questions to ask me about anti-spam techniques circa 1999. Prior art and all that. So I took the time to type up a fairly detailed response and send it back to him.
The email bounced.
Maybe crap like this is why the USPTO gets such a bad rap in terms of software patents and there are so many comments about their examiners being called "clueless".
