Maybe THIS is why the USPTO sucks so badly!

I got email from a patent examiner yesterday. He was researching an anti-spam patent, and had some very detailed questions to ask me about anti-spam techniques circa 1999. Prior art and all that. So I took the time to type up a fairly detailed response and send it back to him.

The email bounced.

Maybe crap like this is why the USPTO gets such a bad rap in terms of software patents and there are so many comments about their examiners being called "clueless".

Well, look at it this way. If you don't find a way to track him down and get him info about the prior art you know of, then don't be surprised to find out that the tools you've long used are now in violation of a patent and the owner wants you to pay through the butt to use, say, spam assassin.

It's fairly important that you track him down.
