I was about to say the same thing. Poor kitty should have been simply released, then caught, released, caught. Not thrown across the dang cabin. Not fair!!!
Yah I know about the Vomit Comet. Harmed no. Scared to molt...yes. It would have been an entirely different matter if they had just released kitty a few times to float around the cabin. Get use to it before throwing her across the cabin. Not cool.
Quite silly on that cat. Trys to right itself..freaks out and keeps spinning. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that cat is on the vomit comet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vomit_Comet
Several years ago, it might have been at the Constellation, the Baltimore Worldcon, Dr. Jerry Pournelle told the tale of an ad-hoc experiment with a cat and zero-G that happened, I think, back in the 60's.
Basically, they hooked up a movie camera on the top of a fighter jet's instrument panel, shooting back into the cockpit. They put the local officer's club's pet cat in a sack, took off, and started flying parabolas.
When the pilot let the terrified kitty loose, it puffed up all its fur, extended it's claws, and as if propelled by magnetic force floated directly to the pilot's face and latched on with a death grip. Remember, this is all on film.
The pilot finally managed to dislodge the cat and land the plane safely. Taxiing back, he cracked open the canopy and the cat leapt out and dashed off the runway. It was a week or so before the cat reappeared at the OC. The pilot's face took rather longer than that to heal.
