RIAA: "Hey mixer, we want you to create mix tapes."

Mixer: "What's in it for me?"

RIAA: "We are going to raid your studio on Friday morning with SWAT, you will be famous."

Mixer: "How much will this fame cost me?"

RIAA: "You do this or we will just raid your studio and sue you for everything you're worth since you own recording equipment and are not giving us money."

What boggles me most is how these entities (MPAA, RIAA, BSA, etc.) manage to get *armed forces* to break into homes and businesses to do their enforcement.

Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK??

I've heard of businesses getting raided by ARMED FEDERAL MARSHALLS for refusing to submit to a BSA software audit. Something which no law on the books requires any business to submit to.

It should be perfectly legal to tell these asshats to GO FUCK THEMSELVES when they come knocking without fearing them coming back a couple of weeks later with full-auto weapons.

Why the hell does our government bestow such power and authority over these private organizations? I wonder how much under-the-table money flows to cause this.

Sigh. Corruption sucks.

Yeah, I noticed a lot of comments on that article about guys in RIAA jackets handling evidence. Every lawyer in existence can just point to that and say "Contamination!" and get the case thrown out.

But yeah... what's with the guns against geeks thing, anyway?
