AVIS Wins: FATALITY
Mar. 19th, 2007 11:36 amI did some more research, and it turns out that PhillyCarShare members get the following discounts when renting with AVIS:
- 10% discount
- Free weekend day OR $15 off weekly rental
So, I think AVIS is going to win this round.
Some folks mentioned concern for higher fees at the airport, I did take those into account. Most of the companies I got quotes from had a line item for "concession recovery fee" on the quote, which was most helpful.
Regarding insurance, American Express picks up CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) if you rent a car with your Amex. The coverage is good for up to $25,000 and has a deductable of $0. That will save me about $25/day right there. I'll still have to pick up LLW (Limited Liability Waiver) to cover any damage to other vehicles (like, if I cause a pileup), but that's not a big deal. Most places charge about $12.95/day for that.
Also, speaking of fatalities, here's a video of every single fatality fromevery single Mortal Combat game some of the Mortal Combat games:
And, the video has a rockin' soundtrack, too. It's nice to listen to while writing code. :-)

So long as it's anything but the version from the Utah Saints. That was an okay song, but it's been played, ripped, etc. so many times that I think it just killed the song.

Date: 2007-03-19 04:54 pm (UTC)For me, between my personal insurance covering liability, and Gold/Platinum Visa/mastercard taking up the Damage and loss of use, I don't have to get any additional coverage.

Date: 2007-03-19 04:58 pm (UTC)Actually, my company (Progressive) does NOT cover rentals. I was rather shocked when I found out. Plus, once I sell my car, I won't have a need for a policy anymore. (PhillyCarShare provides its own insurance with $1 million in coverage.)

Date: 2007-03-20 01:59 am (UTC)And while we're at it, there's also Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat Special Forces, which are more forgivable omissions.
