What's most amusing is, I've never been on a train in Boston that has a map of ALL the lines. Those maps are generally in the stations only, with the trains having a listing of all the stops for that particular line.

That makes sense, since a specific train wouldn't need to show routes it's not on. Keep it simple, and all that.

The DC subway is different. Each car has a map of the full line, while each station has signs showing the stations on whatever line you're on, in addition to the full system map.
