Keeping in mind that I am not a lawyer and this should not be taken too seriously... Let's tally up the total offenses!

Homeowners:

• 2 counts of assault

Jehovah's Witnesses:

• Multiple counts of assault (Chasing down the homeowner in the garage, chasing him into the street, and chasing him into the house)
• Multiple counts of battery
• 2 counts of attempted robbery ("Give me the camera!" x 2 cameras)
• 1 possible count of trespassing

I guess the moral of the story is that if someone starts throwing water balloons at you, turn the other cheek, or at least get the hell out of there before it escalates.

In my experience, people who say "I am not a lawyer" make more sense than real lawyers.

Also in my experience, when Jehovah's Witnesses come back into our little enclave, my parents drop the C-word (Catholic) and they're gone pretty quick. I just don't answer the door because I don't think they'd like to hear the A-word (atheist).

That's because REAL lawyers know precedents and jurisdiction and rules of evidence and the kinds of pre-trial motions they can file and grounds for objection during a trial and all that extra stuff.

To put that into a computer programming analogy, it would be like knowing C, but not knowing how to use make or how UNIX file permissions work.

It's funny, yesterday I rode the bus to Boston College. On the way back, two Mormon's board the bus and one sits across from me. I was in the middle of reading something, yet he still interrupted, and started asking me questions.

Now, if there's one thing I've learned from 4 years of call center work, it's how to control a conversation. I ranted for a while about C++ vs Java, Army ROTC vs Westpoint, told my life story, my "5 year" plan, etc.

I did this for the entire bus ride, until he got off at Harvard Square. Even though it wasn't my stop, I got off with him to keep talking AT him. It ended with him saying, "Uh, yeah, we're gonna make a right turn here, so we'll see you." Religion was never mentioned.

I consider my approach better than water balloons. :)

Yeah I wouldn’t start shit with them at random like they did with the balloons but if someone jumped me like that I would have no qualms with defending myself with whatever force I felt necessary. If I was on my property and someone I didn't know assaulted me they'd be getting stabbed or shot.

The "homeowners" don't have a legal leg to stand on, IMHO. Assaulting someone who's acting in a legal (if reprehensible) way is uncool.

I suspect their chances of succeeding in a civil suit wouldn't be so hot, either.

Just a heads up, those people are not Jehovah's Witnesses, they're obviously actors. The presentation, the word choice (before the cussing), even what they were inviting him to was all wrong. :)

seems like they were acting to me. the whole setup and the things they said, all seem scripted. the lady saying "you're going to hell" sealed it for me as fake, although I was thinking fake right from the beginning. I didn't even watch the rest.

My favourite part of this is the guy saying "Have to call the f'in police on the mother f'in Jehovah's Witnesses!"

Knew it was probably fake from teh beginning but still funny. And I can tell you that the police would be less likely to push the assault by water balloon angle than the assault and battery on the part of the JHs. Much like they didn't arrest the local kids here for criminal mischief for pegging a truck with eggs but they DID charge the driver with murder for shooting and killing one of the kids.
