If you don't recognize the number, [livejournal.com profile] tailen sums it up in his LJ. The short short version is this: MPAA demanded the takedown of that string of numbers, claiming that it was "copyrighted". Thousands of geeks promtply said, "fuck you, MPAA" and began posting the number in their blogs, on YouTube, etc.

In other news, I have been having a lot of fun with Flickr lately. They have uploading tools available which you can download and install on your computer. Then, when you want to upload a bunch of files, you can just queue and upload an entire directory (optionally specifying a set for them to get into and tags for that set), and walk away from your computer while the entire upload happens.

I should mention that ever since I got a digital camera back in the summer of 2004, I've taken lots of pictures, given any excuse. I've taken pictures of conventions, parties, places that I've visited, people that I visited, etc. The last I checked, my entire "pictures/" directory on my hard drive totals 2.1 Gigs over the last 2.5 years. That means there is plenty more for me to upload!

Here are highlights from the 3 sets that I've uploaded so far:

Pictures taken at Roadside America, a rather large miniature village:

Pictures taken at The Western Pennsylvania National Wild Animal Orphanage (Anthrocon's charity in 2006):

And finally, pictures taken at The Dexcon 9 gaming convention last July:

Enjoy!

Postr (http://burtonini.com/blog/computers/postr) is nice on Linux, it even has a Nautilus (http://www.gnome.org/projects/nautilus/) extension.

What I like best of all is that the DMCA takedown notices quoted the hex code in question. So, as is custom, people took down their blog page or image, and put the DMCA's notice in place of it. :)

Roadside America! I love that place! Haven't been in years and years, though!

I especially love the little house that 'burns' every few minutes, and a fire truck 'drives' over to it and squirts it with water. :)

And the circus tent with the unicyclist on the tightrope! And the Presidential cemetery with the baseball game nearby, and the train with the Disney character boxcars! And the 'nighttime' scene every twenty minutes or so, with the Star Spangled Banner playing at 'sunrise'!

I might be confusing some of this with Choo Choo Barn, which was the same kind of place nearby...

Great drawing of the octopus playing DDR, btw. :-D

I don't remember either of those, so I don't think you're describing Roadside America. :-P

The octopus drawing was a Bill Holbrook thing, BTW. Never let it be said that he does not have a sense of humor.

Yeah, I got 'em confused - the nighttime scene I definitely remember from Roadside America, but the rest is from Choo Choo Barn in Strausburg. I recommend a visit there sometime - it's the same kind of place, maybe a little smaller but with lots of character. :)

How can a series of numbers become intellectual property?
