He was completely fine and perky and in fabulous condition. He didn't flinch around the handlers or anything. Remember that wolf throats are a bit thicker than many domestics and this is not a TAME dog. If it lurches at something they need to be able to get him under contrlo quickly, thus a pinch collar.

I have a lovely picture of us together. He sniffed my hair and nuzzled me. Must have sensed I'm one of the pack. Wulf always did call me Dr. F**king Doolittle.

But god, when I used to help out at Big Run in Chicago, we would never let a kid that young get that close to the wolves. They were socialized, but still.

Actually, i wish we could have let some of the kids get up close and personal with the animals. just because for most of them, it might be the only time they ever see a real wolf. But the thing we were worried about is if one of the kids had so much as gotten scratched by the animals, or mouthed playfully and someone raised a stink, it could have resulted in having to have the animal put down, and we just couldn't take the chance.
