I got my check for Jury Duty in the mail the other day. Including mileage, my grand total was a whopping:

$12.74

I'm glad to see that Montgomery County values my time at fair market rates. :-P

Christ... Compared to what people in the tech market usually get for a call out thats terribly insulting. I say send the city a bill for what your usualy billed rate would be ;-)

Mh... considering the 1998 exchange rates, I think that's actually more than the DM 22.17 I picked up at the conscription office when I was examined for army duty.

It didn't even make up for the amount of gas wasted. Not even with 1998 prices. :P

Wait, you live in Germany and you drove...

I live in the USA and I took public transportation...

That's a bit backwards. o.O

The conscription office was about 80 or 90 km away.

That's the fun with drafts - you get to see remote places you've never been before and you'll never get there ever again in your life.

(With the US Army, it's just 'Meet foreign people and shoot them'.)

ick, I prefer my $403.70. Granted, 203.70 of it was for travel...

This was for 5 days of service.

Wow, this brings up two questions:

- Where do you live that they pay that much for jury duty?! That's orders magnitude more than they pay here in Dade County, FL, and...

- Who did your LJ user icon? That's absolutely beyond adorable.

I live in Alaska.

The breakdown is as follows:

5 days * $40 dollars a day = $200
5 days * 84 miles to and from court * $.48xx a mile= $203.70

As for my LJ icon, yeah it is adorable :) That is what I was going for. [livejournal.com profile] crssafox made it and 3 others for me. This is my favorite though :) Actually, I believe she lives in the Florida area...

Oh, they did. However, it is not required by law. They /could/ have forced me to use a vacation day and it would have been perfectly legal.

I made this post mainly to make fun of Montgomery County. :-)
