Work was nice enough to let me take a few hours around lunchtime to visit Dad in the hospital.
I actually got a shock when I walked into the room - the bed was empty! Then I noticed him sitting in a chair next to the bed.
He's on a lot less morphine than yesterday and generally feeling better and more alert. His biggest complaint was that I couldn't find a copy of the New York Daily News at the gift shop. (I'll fix that tomorrow) Several physicians and nurses stopped by while I was there. They were all pretty cool and seemed genuinely concerned about him. At least one of the nurses actually remembered him from his previous stay at the hospital for the same procedure 1.5 years ago.
One of the things that the staff kept doing was asking what his pain level was "on a scale of 1 to 10". I'm going to dig up some D&D dice to take in tomorrow so that my father can roll a 2d4 to determine his current level. Let the nurses figure THAT one out!
We checked in with my one aunt and it looks like Mom had her gallstones removed today and her actual operation was pushed back until Monday(!).
Between making visits, AC stuff, and
tailen arriving on Sunday, it's going to be a very busy weekend. o.O
