Anthrocon 2007 and the 6-2-1 Rule
Jul. 11th, 2007 01:36 pmSome folks may be aware of the 6-2-1 Rule at furry conventions, which states:
- 6 hours of sleep per day
- 2 meals per day
- 1 shower per day
It is believed that following those rules will help reduce the chances of you being exhausted, catching con crud, or having an "aura" about you that may offend other attendees.
At the most recent Anthrocon, it was explained to me by one DI that their very own Dr. Bob Passovoy has now proposed the following version of the 6-2-1 rule for Anthrocon:
- 6 miles walked per day
- 2 snacks per day
- 1 nap per day
If you are not a member of the DI, do not attempt to follow the new rules. :-)

Date: 2007-07-11 06:12 pm (UTC)Having been nearly knocked out by wicked funk in the Westin lobby Thrusday evening I started thinking of designs for a fully automated, human sized auto-wash machine.

Date: 2007-07-11 06:15 pm (UTC)On the 5 hour drive home on Monday, I found that I had trouble staying awake/focused, so I had to pull over at a rest stop and conk out for an hour.
The moral of this story is obvious:

Date: 2007-07-11 06:29 pm (UTC)As for the two meals per day.... so true. I always end up eating two meals per day when traveling. Never have time for three, and one isn't enough to keep me going. It's not that I feel hungry; I just start to become weak, sleepy and unmotivated.

Date: 2007-07-14 04:22 am (UTC)I generally lecture new con attendees by the 8-6-2-1 rule: its 6-2-1 with the addition of 8 glasses of water a day. It wasn't *quite* so imperative this con, but anyone who's had to deal with a dehydrated fur will tell you its well worth making the point.
